Amanda Anisimova went over to Singapore and even acclimated herself to the jet-lag posting TikTok videos, but the American was seemingly still dealing with injuries as she pulled out.
But now she has gone even further deciding to end her season early after confirming that she has sustained yet another wrist injury.
She has withdrawn from the China Open since then and also won't be playing in Wuhan in the coming weeks either. She isn't in a position this year to qualify for the WTA Finals so instead will end her season and return in the run-up to the Australian Open.
“Hi everyone, I will be wrapping up my season for the year. I sustained a wrist injury again, that I need to take care of. Time to get healthy, reset, and see you all in 2027," she wrote on social media.
An issue sustained all year
She spoke earlier in the year after managing to avert her issues about the toll that the wrist injury has taken on her. But it seems to have taken a hold again as Anisimova went from having her best ever season to shutting down this one early due to injury.
“I felt like I had three pre-seasons in a row,” she said. “It’s been a lot of training, and honestly, we don’t get time for a lot of that, so I tried to use the time. I’m feeling good.
“I just tried to put it out of my mind that I haven’t played a clay court match in a while," the 2025 Wimbledon and US Open finalist continued. “I turned it to the opposite view, that I get to play a match on clay. This being my first clay tournament isn’t too bad. I’m really, really happy and I don’t have anything but positive thoughts to be here, healthy and playing.”
