"Amazing, unbelievable, I feel like I'm freezing" - Russia after winning 2021 Billie Jean King Cup

The 2021 Billie Jean King Cup Finals saw team Russia take on team Switzerland and it was the Russian who proved better lifting the trophy.

It's been a very interesting Billie Jean King Cup event in Prague that saw Russia take on Switzerland in the final. Both teams did extremely well to reach the finals but in the finals, it was one team that had the clear advantage. In the first match, Kasatkina easily defeated Teichmann while in the 2nd match Samsonova came back to win against Olympic champion Belinda Bencic.

It was an unbelievable match from Samsonova who could not hide her emotions after she secured the crucial point for her nation. After the match she said:

"I have too many emotions right now - feel like I'm freezing. It's unbelievable, I'm unbelievably happy. Today was an incredible fight - a much more nervous game. It was more than tennis."

Samsonova is not the only player who was overwhelmed by the victory as all Russian team members showed extreme joy after winning the Billie Jean King Cup. Kasatkina, who delivered the first point, said after the tie:

"It's an amazing feeling. I played the first match, now I'm playing in the final and I'm very happy that I brought this important point to my team. Team Captain Igor Andreev added:

"It's a historical win for us. It's been a long time without any trophies for team tennis. I'm very proud and happy for the girls, the way they played. They are amazing, they are heroes and they achieved this because they are a team - a real team."
