Team Russia is the winner of the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup Finals after Kasatkina and Samsonova both won the singles matches in the final.
The two best teams at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals faced off in the final with Russia winning it 2-0 over Switzerland. In the first match, Kasatkina proved much better than Teichmann easily besting her in two sets 6-2 6-4. All hopes then turned to Belinda Bencic who has always played well when representing Switzerland. Thanks to her, Switzerland found itself in the final as Bencic delivered crucial points in every tie.
Today it seemed like she would be able to do so again after she was on top of Samsonova early winning the opening set with 6-3. The Russian enjoys playing attacking tennis but early on her tennis was not as sharp as it needed to be. Too many errors and too few winners proved troublesome to overcome against a very solid Bencic.
That somewhat changed in the 2nd set as Smasonova was able to hit a decent number of winners. Bencic on the other hand was not able to produce a similar effort and the Russian was able to pull it out 6-3. The final set was another closely contested one. Samsonova once again proved a little bit better breaking Bencic when she had the chance.
The Swiss played kept pushing but when she got the chance she failed to use it. She had tow break points but converted neither and Samsonova was able to win the final one with 6-4 as well. The attacking and risky play proved successful for the Russian who delivers the crucial point in the final lifting her nation over Switzerland.
