Andreescu will be the new ambassador for Tennis Canada's Mental Timeout
program.
Tennis
Canada announced that Andreescu will promote mental health through its program,
which seeks the well-being of the country's tennis players. The institution
will also have insurance company Beneva as the program's main sponsor.
In addition
to the former 2019 US Open champion, Alexis Galerneaau and Rob Shaw have also
joined as ambassadors for the program, which seeks to raise awareness about the
importance of taking care of athletes' mental health and provide support to
Canadian tennis players. Andreescu shared the news on social media:
"Proud
to be a @TennisCanada ambassador for the Mental Timeout initiative supported by
@beneva_ca. As an athlete, I know the importance of mental health, and I want
to inspire the next generation to prioritize mental health and seek guidance
when needed," Andreescu wrote.
The Canadian player
last played at the Madrid Open, where she lost to China's Xiyu Wang in three
sets after being away from the courts for a month due to her injury at the
Miami Open. This week she will be the 28th seed at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.
