Bianca
Andreescu celebrated her birthday by making a donation to the Canadian Red
Cross.
Canadian
tennis player
Bianca Andreescu turned 23 years old on June 16, a day after
being eliminated from the Libema Open in 's-Hertogenbosch.
On her birthday,
Andreescu expressed her gratitude for the greetings she received from her
family, friends, and fans, and announced a donation to the Canadian Red Cross.
Amidst the
emergency caused by the wildfires affecting Atlantic Canada, the 2019 US Open
champion announced that she will be making a donation to support the wildfire
relief efforts. These wildfires have forced thousands of people to evacuate
their homes and have caused significant destruction in forested areas and
properties.
"Thanks
to everyone for the kind messages on my birthday. I'll be making a donation to
the Canadian Red Cross for the wildfire relief efforts. Please donate if you
can!" she wrote on Twitter.
The
Romanian-Canadian tennis player will be competing in the WTA 2023 bett1Open Berlin starting on Wednesday, which features eight top-10
players, including defending champion Ons Jabeur. Andreescu has participated in
the tournament in 2021 and 2022, reaching the second round on both occasions.
