Bianca Andreescu started well at the Libema Open winning her first match but then she lost to Hruncakova 6-7(6) 3-6 who is certainly a capable player but not one of the top players.
The Slovakian player more recently played under Kuzmova but she got married and changed her surname. She's still a pretty good tennis player though and this proved that. It was a tricky matchup for Andreesuc as she generally struggles with consistency this year. At times she can play really well but also spam a lot of errors when she's not feeling it.
This match overall was fair but the first set proved quite crucial. Both players had early break points in the opening set but neither player was able to convert them. Eventually, Andreescu did get the break she needed taking a 5-3 lead but she couldn't hold it. Andreescu had four set points at 5-4 but Hrucankova saved all of them. She had four more at 6-4 but Hruncakova once again saved all of them.
The tiebreak saw her have another one, first on her serve and once again she couldn't get it done. Hruncakov got the first set 8-6 in the tiebreak and then continued playing well in the second set. Andreescu lost her focus in the second set as she didn't play as well as she did in the first set which resulted in a 6-3 conclusion for Hruncakova. She was just pretty poor when it mattered the most as she converted only two out of 16 break points she had.
She had 16 break points, 8 of them were actually set points and she had a set point on her own serve as well. None of that mattered as she wasted all of it and that's just not good enough. Not against a player that is not even ranked inside the top 100.
