Andreescu suffers 1st set bagel but comes back to win against Muguruza

Bianca Andreescu pulled off a major comeback win over Garbine Muguruza in her first official match in the new season 0-6 7-6(3) 6-1.

This match was a crazy match as it really had it all. We had two great tennis players who struggled last year so both wanted to start off this new year with a big result. Muguruza looked very sharp at the start of the match tearing apart how Andreescu plays tennis. The Canadian had no answers and saw herself post a zero at the end of the set.

That bagel gave Muguruza even more confidence and she used that to her advantage in the early goings of the second set. Andreescu played much better and took a 2-1 lead in the set but Muguruza fought back and even took a 4-2 lead. It seemed like the Spanish player was marching towards an impressive victory, especially at 5-2 but then it was time for Andreescu to pull off an amazing comeback.

We arrived in the tiebreak of the second set and it was all Andreescu as she dominated her way to a 7-3 finish. The final set was also one of mostly Andreescu's dominated as she crushed Muguruza 6-1. A terrible loss for Garbine who was up 6-0 5-2 but then she fell apart.
