The
Ostrava Open final was a good one and it saw
Anett Kontaveit win the trophy over Sakkari 6-2 7-5.
The 2021 Ostrava Open saw a 1st time winner at the event in Anett Kontaveit. The Estonian player played a sensational event and final as well. Ot started off well for Kontaveit who was outplaying Sakkari heavily from the baseline.
Sakkari was particularly vulnerable on her 2nd serve and that allowed Kontaveit to take an early 4-1 lead after a brilliant game. On her ser Kontaveit was great as well rarely dropping any points. She won the first set with 6-3.
The 2nd set was played much better by Sakkari who served a lot better which limited opportunities for Kontaveit. On return Sakkari generated early pressure and had a break point but failed to convert it.
As the match went on both players applied more pressure on each other and each had to overcome deuces to hold their serve. After Kontaveit hold her serve to make it 6-5 Sakkari failed to the same falling behind 0-40. She lost the game and match completing a very dissapointing showing.
