A couple of seeds went toe to toe at the Ostrava Open and in the end, Anett Kontaveit proved better than Paula Badosa winning 6-3 6-4.
The final match of the day at the Ostrava Open was a very good one with Anett Kontaveit taking on Paula Badosa. Both players enjoy playing on hard courts and their aggressive styles work well on the surface. Early on in the match, Kontaveit had the upper hand as she simply played better than Badosa. The Spanish played held on with her serve but as the match progressed Kontaveit was seeing more and more chances.
Eventually, she converted her chances late in the set to take the lead 5-3. She would go on to win the opening set with 6-3. The final game was a critical hold for Kontaveit who faced 0-40 in the game before closing out the set. Kontaveit was simply more solid overall not allowing herself any weak spots in her game.
For Badosa her 2nd serve proved a huge weakness and Kontaveit was able to exploit it. With the opening set momentum in hand, Kontaveit took an early 2nd set lead 2-0 before the Spanish player composed herself a little bit pulling it back to 2-2. However, she would lose her serve once again not long after and this time around Kontaveit held firm.
The Estonian player continued playing and serving well closing out the 2nd set with 6-4. Once again she was simply more solid overall than Badosa who had excellent moment but also abysmal ones.
