Heading into her first-ever semifinal on US soil 🇺🇸 @AnisimovaAmanda sails through to the final 4 in Charleston! #CharlestonOpen
American Amanda Anisimova breezed past compatriot Coco Vandeweghe in their Friday night encounter at the Credit One Charleston Open, booking her spot in the semifinals.
The 15th seed required just an hour and 4 minutes to secure the 6-1 6-2 victory, saving all five break points faced. Vandeweghe had little chance against her younger opponent, as Anisimova's power and pace were too much for the World No.166.
With momentum on her side after defeating World No.5 and top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the previous round, Anisimova looked confident as she easily dictated play against her veteran opponent. The World No.47 appeared to be in control from the onset, as she swept past Vandeweghe in a fantastic display of talent and precision.
Awaiting Anisimova in the semifinals is the in-form Ons Jabeur, with both ladies never having met on the WTA circuit.
