Aryna Sabalenka looked every bit as dominant in her first Porsche Tennis Grand Prix match beating Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets 6-2 6-3.
She needed less than 80 minutes on the court to earn this victory showing that her level is still very high. A rather unique clay court, it plays into the strengths of Sabalenka who has a powerful serve and can utilize it well here. She played in the final last year but lost to Iga Swiatek rather easily.
This one saw her serve exceptionally well from start to finish as she had 10 aces and lost only four points behind her serve. Krejcikova found some success on her second serve but was still not enough as she didn't create a single break chance in the entire match. On her own serve, Krejcikova was smashed by Sabalenka's return, especially on the second serve.
The Belarusian won 17 of 21 points when Krejcikova missed her first serve and that was just too much to overcome. Krejcikova did save some break points but still got broken three times in the match for the 6-2 6-3 win. Very impressive from Sabalenka.
