Novak Djokovic came from a set down to deny rising Frenchman, Luca van Assche to open up his tournament at the
Srpska Open Banja Luka 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 in just over two and a half hours.
A tournament with the license held by his family, he still didn't back in his post match interview about the conditions saying they were the slowest he has ever played on.
It is a tournament which has moved to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2023 due to Djokovic's desire to get the Belgrade Open an ATP 500 status and seemingly he isn't too happy so far with Banja Luka.
“It wasn’t easy,” Djokovic said in his on-court interview. “This would probably rank as the slowest court, slowest conditions I’ve ever played in, to be honest. I couldn’t penetrate through the court. I couldn’t put any ball past him.”
“He was on every single ball for a set-and-a-half until I started to get some rhythm going,” Djokovic added. “I’m happy with the way I finished the match. Of course I can always play better, but a win is a win.”
