The reigning Australian Open champion booked a spot in the
Indian Wells semi-final with a convincing with over
Coco Gauff 6-4 6-0.
The match was good for Sabalenka in many ways as she generally struggled against Gauff in the past. This time around Sabalenka was able to do whatever she wanted and it was pretty clear by the way the match went. She took an early lead in the first set 2-0 and then mostly focused on keeping her serve.
Gauff was able to hold her serve too and it was a rather peaceful finish to the set 6-4. Sabalenka was pretty spectacular losing only a handful of points on her serve and not allowing a single break point in the set. Gauff allowed three in total but saved two of those. That was vastly different in the second set as an in-rhythm Sabalenka destroyed Gauff.
The second-set score was 6-0 for the Belarussian as she dominated play allowing Gauff only 5 points on her serve in three service games. Gauff saved two of five break points she faced but got broken three times for the bagel. Sabalenka only dropped 3 points on her serve and once again didn't face a single break point. 65 minutes of tennis brilliance.
