Ashleigh Barty did well in her match today to advance to the Australian Open quarterfinals and after the match, she was happy to go through.
It was a rather straightforward match for Barty who defeated Shelby Rogers in straight sets to reach the Australian Open round 4. It was a much better performance than 10 days ago when she went to three sets against the same opponent on the very same court. After the match she spoke about how serving was the key:
"I knew it was going to be vital to serve well tonight. That was something I really wanted to try and focus on, just to try and give myself a chance to be in control of more points. There were a couple of runs of points [and] games in our match last week that Shelby was able to get on a roll and run away with it a little bit. I wanted to try and avoid that and just bring it back on my terms as much as I could, and try and be the aggressor when I could."
It all worked today and it was a great adjustment by Barty and her team that worked to perfection thanks to her execution on the court. During the on-court interview post-match she also shared that she just feels well in Australia which helped her reach the quarterfinal of the Grand Slam for the 3rd consecutive year in a row:
"I just love being at home. I love being in Australia and I love being able to share it with my friends and family."
