Belinda Bencic lost all three previous meetings against
Paula Badosa but she finally cracked the code against the Spaniard in Charleston 2-6 7-6(2) 6-4.
The duo played in Charleston last year with the match also going to three sets but Badosa won that third set 6-1. This time around it was quite a bit different but we'll get to that. So Bencic played better tennis all week long but not many thought she would be able to win her first match against Badosa who defeated her three times before.
In the first set, it seemed like Badosa would once again cruise as the Spaniard took the first set with 6-2 The reason for the scoreline was Bencic and her serve as she was unable to hit it consistently. Her game is largely dependent on her serve and she didn't have it hence the quick loss of a set. The 2nd set featured a better play by Bencic but Badosa was pretty decent as well.
