Bencic hilariously mistaken by WTA as Haddad Maia with pictures sent to her email: "When even WTA confuses us"

WTA sent Switzerland’s tennis star Belinda Bencic pictures of Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia.

The 26-year-old shared the hilarious development on the social media platform Instagram with a caption: “When even WTA confuses us and send me your pictures @biahaddadmaia”.

Bencic has been going through a difficult patch in the recent past where not much has gone her way.

In the US Open 2023, the Flawil-born lost to Romania’s Sorana Cirstea in the round of 16 in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

After that, she was knocked out from the San Diego Open in the first round after losing to Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the first round with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

On the other hand, Haddad Maia has also been going through a rough patch of form. In the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year, she was knocked out after suffering a defeat in the second round to America’s Taylor Townsend with a score of 7-6, 7-5.

In the San Diego Open, the 27-year-old came second best in the quarterfinal against Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova who secured a win in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
