From qualifying to winning the title 🏆 🇺🇸 @bernarda_pera claims the Hungarian Grand Prix title, defeating Krunic 6-3, 6-3! #WTABudapest
Bernarda Pera has sealed her maiden WTA Tour title seeing off Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia on Sunday afternoon to seal the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.
It was a superb display from the American who sealed a 6-3, 6-3 win coming from qualifying to seal the title on clay. She took 87 minutes to take down Krunic and continue a run of not dropping a set all week.
This in itself includes two victories in qualifying by straight sets and as a result, the current World No.130 becomes the third player to win a WTA title from qualifying.
Other players to do so are Tatjana Maria in Bogota and Anastasia Potapova in Istanbul and joins also the latter, Martina Trevisan and Beatriz Haddad Maia in sealing a first WTA tournament in the process.
