Kiki Bertens and Elena Rybakina will be fighting for the title in the final at the 2020 Ladies Trophy in St. Petersburg.
It is the first final of the season for Bertens in St. Petersburg. Kiki is playing in a great form in Russia when she defeated 3 home players en route to the final. There, she will be facing
Elena Rybakina. About the match, she said:
"It's a tough challenge every day, but every day, I keep telling myself 'Focus on the win today, try to do everything to win this match, and then tomorrow, we'll see again,'" Bertens said. "I will just give everything for the final, and then afterwards, we'll see what's happening."
"I remember that one. It was at my home tournament in the Netherlands. It was the semifinals and I think I played a solid match there. Of course, grass is different," Bertens said. For me, tomorrow is just another match, another final, which I really want to win. She's a tough player. She's playing really aggressive and she keeps fighting on the court, so I just really have to be ready."
Rybakina also remembers the match in the Netherlands where she lost 4-6, 4-6 to Bertens. On the other hand, she is happy with a great beginning of the season and has nothing to lose in the final.
"I'm really happy to start the season like this. I had a great preseason so I feel good physically, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's match," Rybakina added.
"I played against her six months ago on grass. It was tough, it was close. I will watch some of the match again, but it was a different surface, but I will talk to my coach and try to do my best. It's such a big event and I really want to win, so I will try to do my best."
