Following her easy win over
Marie Bouzkova in the first round of the 2024
Abu Dhabi Open,
Emma Raducanu has been penciled in to return to her Grand Slam winning form, according to former coach Mark Petchey.
Raducanu had been sidelined for the later half of the 2023 season due to injuries, but returned to the tour Down Under, where she lost in the second round of the Australian Open. Nonetheless, the British star looked like confident during her easy win over Bouzkova, securing a 6-1 6-1 victory in 82 minutes. Awaiting Raducanu in the next round is three-time Grand Slam finalist
Ons Jabeur, who received a bye into the round of 16.
Petchey full of praise for Raducanu's first-round performance
The tennis analyst and commentator, who coached Raducanu briefly in 2020, took to social media to let critics know that Raducanu would soon be returning to the form that saw her win her first Major at the 2021 US Open.
"The naysayers won’t have a lot longer to be negative about Emma Raducanu. Better fill your boots before she is back in the business ends of most events," Petchey wrote on Twitter.
