Bianca Andreescu is continuing to struggle on the tennis court with the Canadian putting forward yet another lacklustre performance. She drew Shelby Rogers in the 2nd round of the event and she was thoroughly outplayed by the American who did not show any special tennis either. Andreescu started off well leading 2-1 and having 3 consecutive break points.
After failing to use those 3 and two more in the same game Andreescu never quite found that rhythm again. She lost her serve immediately after that and that proved key for the first set. Rogers was able to serve out the set 6-4 against Andreescu who showed little fire to come back. The 2nd set continued a similar trend for Andreescu.
She started off solid but lost her serve pretty early in the 2nd set giving Rogers the 3-1 lead. At 2-3, she had break points but once again failed to use them due to her inability to return the first serve of Rogers. Roger had a 5-4 lead and served for the match but only then was Andreescu able to string together a few good rallies to make it 5-5.
Instead of taking advantage of that she once again botched it by losing her serve to make it 6-5 for Rogers who then closed out the match 7-5. On match point, Andreescu missed a point blank forehand which summed up her day perfectly. Andreescu is defending Indian Wells next week.
