Bianca Andreescu barely escapes early exit from Roland Garros but Krejcikova does not

Bianca Andreescu was well on her way to crash out of Roland Garros but she was able to turn around her match against Bonaventure 3-6 7-5 6-0 while Krejcikova threw away hers against Parry 6-1 2-6 3-6.

Bianca Andreescu opened up her match against Bonaventure with an early break and a 2-0 lead. She then lost four games in a row to give the lead away and lost her serve once more to lose the opening set 3-6. She did not play too terribly but her opponent was simply very feisty and won the most crucial rallies. She was down a break in the 2nd set as well but rallied to fight back.

Eventually, she was able to find a good rhythm and win the 2nd set with 7-5. Rain interrupted play in the final set and after about an hour and half, Andreescu returned and smashed her opponent easily 6-0 to move on. A close call for Andreescu but an impressive comeback as well.

Barbora Krejcikova, last year's champion, did the opposite thing. She jumped out to an early lead smashing her opponent 6-1. Krejcikvoa looked sharp and comfortable as Parry struggled to hit the court with anything. The 2nd set opened with Krejcikova taking an early lead again but Parry completely turned it around by simply letting loose.

The French player opted for ultra aggresive play and it worked. Krejcikova did not know what to do and starting missgin a lot. Parry won the 2nd with 6-2 but lost her serve early in the 3rd one as well 2-0. She lost it and then lost her serve at 4-3 as well to give Parry the huge upset win over the defending champion 6-3. 24 winners and 45 unforced errors was simply not going to get it done today.

Krejcikova will drop from number 2 to outside of the top 10.
