Bianca Andreescu produced another good effort against last year's Wimbledon finalist
Karolina Pliskova with a chance to serve out the match but she failed and lost 4-6 6-2 6-7(7).
The Canadian player nearly lost in the first round to Katerina Siniakova but today she produced a much better effort against another Czech player. Karolina Pliskova applied some early pressure on her opponent but after holding from 0-40 down Andreescu broke Pliskvoa for the 3-2 lead. She lost her serve in the next game to make it 3-3 and from there it was a good battle by both.
Eventually, Pliskova got the 5-4 lead and Andreescu hit a couple of forehands into the net for the 4-6 opening set. In the 2nd set, Andreescu did not change her tactic of attacking but actually doubled down on it hitting the ball even harder. She finally started hitting it well and opened with a 3-0 lead in the 2nd set. From there it was mostly cruising as she finished off the 2nd with 6-2.
Andreescu did the same thing in the next set with Pliskova once again unable to handle her constant pressure. Bianca was hitting the ball well, the serv was resulting in multiple short balls and it was relatively easy for a while. She complicated things majorly but getting broke at 5-4 when she served for the match but she was able to forget that quickly.
She jumped out to an early lead in the tiebreak but failed to close it out with Pliskova taking over late. The Czech player was able to convert her 3rd match point to win it 9-7. Andreescu had break chances to take a 5-2 lead in the final set.
