Except for being one of the greatest players of all time, Billie Jean King is a 6-time
Wimbledon champion in singles. She managed to win another 10 trophies in doubles and 4 in mixed doubles.
King has been part of Wimbledon every year since 1961, and this will be the first year she will miss it. Many sports events are cancelled due to Coronavirus pandemic, including the
suspension of the whole ATP & WTA Tour until 13th July 2020. Former world number 1, shared her thoughts on Twitter when she wrote:
"With the cancellation of The Championships this year it is more important than ever for those of us in tennis to work together and stand together. I fully understand and support the decision of the committee and it is vital we keep our focus on those most impacted by this pandemic", Billie Jean King wrote.
"I have been fortunate to go to Wimbledon every year since 1961 and I am certainly going to miss it this year. Right now, we need to make sure we are taking good care of ourselves and our loved ones. These are challenging times for all of us and now is the time for us to do what is right four our world and what works for our sport."
