Eugenie Bouchard and Leylah Fernandez took part in the WTA 125 event in Mexico and they had different results.
Bouchard took on Renata Zarazua, a solid native player that can beat if you give her the chance and Bouchard did just that. The Canadian was up 4-1 in the opening set but lost it 5-7 after completely losing her rhythm. She bounced back in super fashion winning the second et 6-1 and many expected that she will complete the comeback.
Bouchard did open the final set with a 2-0 lead but allowed the Mexican to battle back and eventually, Zarazua got the win 7-5 in the final set. Another Canadian was on the courts but she was able to win the match, unlike Bouchard.
Leylah Fernandez continued her comeback in Mexico and she won once again. She's been a stellar performer in the country so far winning two trophies in Mexico and this was another good start. She took the opening set against Mandlik in the tiebreak.
It was an epic one that finished 10-8 for Fernandez and it was part of a stellar comeback by the Canadian was she was down 3-5 before the tiebreak. The final set was much simpler as she jumped out to an early 3-' lead and held her serve rather easy to complete the win. An important win for Fernandez who is working her way into shape.
