Rising star Marie Bouzkova picked up where she left off prior to the season's suspension, as the Czech advanced to the quarterfinals at the Top Seed Open.

The 22-year old faced Russian Anna Blinkova in the round of 16, and raced to a 4-0 lead in the first set. Although Blinkova was able to break back at 2-5, Bouzkova managed to serve out the set. The second set saw both ladies hold their opening games, before Bouzkova upped her intensity and ran away with the match. The Monterrey finalist prevailed 6-4 6-2 in an hour and 42 minutes to reach her second consecutive quarterfinal of the season.
Bouzkova will face unseeded American Jennifer Brady, who upset sixth seed Magda Linette 6-2 6-3 in just over an hour. Brady was dominant throughout the match, breaking her opponent's serve four times to secure her victory. The Qatar Open semifinalist has never faced Bouzkova on the WTA circuit, setting up an intriguing quarterfinal match.
