Jennifer Brady reached her first Grand Slam final at the Australian Open this year ultimately losing to Osaka in the final but she hopes for many more in the future.
It was a gutting defeat for Brady who played a spectacular event at the Australian Open but fell short against a dominant Osaka. Sitting down with the media after the defeat she said:
"Not the way that I wanted it. But I would say it was exciting to be out there. I enjoyed every single minute playing in front of fans in my first Grand Slam final, and I hope there are many more."
This success will catapult her to number 13 in the rankings which is a career-high ranking for the 25-year old American. It's something that she is proud of as she believes that she proved that she belongs to the top. She said:
"I think I belong at this level. I think winning a Grand Slam is totally achievable. It's within reach."
Playing in the Grand Slam final obviously comes with nerves and Brady admitted as much but she also spoke about how the defeat didn't feel overly crushing to her. Stil she expressed mixed feeling about the end result:
"I have mixed feelings. I'm pretty proud of myself, my team, for what we achieved here. We came here and I reached my first Grand Slam final. But also, I'm walking away with the runner-up trophy, not the winner's trophy, so that's a little bit sad."
Brady concluded the interview by saying she just needs to improve on her game and hopefully that will be enough to win a Grand Slam trophy one day.
