The third edition of the ATP 250 Cordoba Open occurs next week, serving as the first clay-court event of the season and a chance for those who suffered early Melbourne exit.
Juan Ignacio Londero won the first edition in 2019, and Cristian Garin took the title from him last year following a three-setter triumph over Diego Schwartzman. Garin will not defend the title due to an injury, leaving Schwartzman as the top seed.
Schwartzman will try to leave an early Australian Open exit behind him, facing Hugo Dellien or Marco Cecchinato in the second round before a clash against Andrej Martin, Juan Ignacio Londero or Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the quarters.
Guido Pella and Federico Delbonis lead the second quarter, challenged by Pedro Sousa, Nicolas Kicker, Jozef Kovalik and Daniel Elahi Galan. The third quarter should bring exciting tennis, with Miomir Kecmanovic, Thiago Monteiro, Thiago Seyboth Wild and Roberto Carballes Baena battling for the semi-final spot.
Kecmanovic has started working with the former ATP Finals and Masters 1000 champion David Nalbandian, hoping for instant success. Benoit Paire, Jaume Munar, Nicolas Jarry (the first ATP event after the suspension) and Federico Coria lead the bottom quarter, with the 6th seed Dominik Koepfer and the young Argentine Francisco Cerundolo.
