Barty continued her winning streak at Wimbledon putting in another great performance to reach her first Wimbledon final. The Australian player played great and she was helped quite a bit by Kerber who did not have her best today. It started off shaky for Barty who had to save two break points in the first game. Once she did that she went on a roll taking a 3-0 lead which she maintained for the rest of the set.
Kerber started playing a bit better by the end of the set and forced several break point late but Barty stood her ground. The Australian was very aggressive hitting 17 winners to 7 unforced errors which proved more than enough.
The 2nd set did not start well for Barty who found herself on the other side of a 3-0 score. Kerber played fairly well early and Barty was not as sharp. As the match progressed she would find her rhythm once more and Kerber had to save break points to maintain the lead. At 5-3 when she served for the set she got broken easily by Barty.
We then ended up in a tiebreak which almost did not happen but Kerber was able to hold until then. Barty was playing much better at that time and she jumped out to a 6-0 lead in it. Kerber did win three points after that but the Australian closed it out with 7-3 in the tiebreak.
