"But also cracking the World's Top 20": Casey Dellacqua predicts Chinese star Qinwen Zheng will win first WTA title in 2023

Former player Casey Dellacqua predicts that rising star Qinwen Zheng will win her first trophy in 2023 as well as make the top 20 in the rankings.

Zheng has been playing super solid tennis for a long time now with her rise going under the radar. She's been really consistent but didn't have a splash result which would catapult her to the top and that might explain it. After all, she was the only player that won a set against Swiatek at last year's Roland Garros.

Speaking recently, former player Dellacqua predicted great things for Zheng in the future:

"I just feel like she (Qinwen Zheng) is on her way up, absolutely. She was WTA Newcomer (of the Year) in 2022, she had a fabulous junior career, she's made a couple of WTA finals before. But I just feel like she's on the verge of getting her first WTA title."

She further added:

"She's a great player, her game was inspired by Li Na. She strikes the ball incredibly weI feel like she's on the verge of not only her first WTA title, but also cracking the world's Top-20. So look out for this fabulous, young, and up-and-coming Chinese player."
