Rennae Stubbs believes
Iga Swiatek is 'by far the favourite' for the 2024 Australian Open summing up the 2023 season on her podcast Season Review.
Stubbs was joined by Andrea Petkovic to wrap up the top 10 players and their year. But also looking forward to the case of Swiatek and believes that she can hit the mark and add one of only two Grand Slam titles she doesn't own to her collection next season. Wimbledon is the other.
Swiatek will handle pressure even better in 2024
After the pressure of World No.1 was taken off as Swiatek called it, she started to play with more freedom in the back end of the season and won the WTA Finals to regain that top spot.
Stubbs believes a lot of the poor form at some junctures of the season from Swiatek comes from the inner pressure she puts on herself and now she knows how to deal with it, it will lead to a better player in 2024.
"I think Iga Swiatek is by far the favorite now going into the Australian Open but I think what she did this year was a learning experience about how to handle the pressure At the start of the year, I know that she was very aware of her winning streak from the year before," said Stubbs on her podcast.
"I know that she was putting a ton of pressure on herself to have that same year and was a little bit sort of overwhelmed by it in some respects. I think she learned a lot about herself this year and I think she's going to be even better next year."
