There are those who are happy for her return and those who lie. 👀 Amanda Anisimova will be back on the court in Auckland to start the 2024 season! Welcome back!
As well as Emma Raducanu returning at the ASB Classic (1-7 January), a second wildcard was issued late on Wednesday evening to Amanda Anisimova with the American prodigy set to return ahead of the 2024 season.
Murmerings have swelled for a while about Anisimova who took a break for mental health reasons last season and has since begun studying at university would return despite initially with the latter all roads pointing to a more extended period away. But with her Australian Open spot confirmed, her first tournament back is set.

As reported last month though, Anisimova has entered the Hobart International which is due to take place between 8-13 January, 2024. This means that Anisimova will play until the Australian Open in a bid for match practice.
Unlike Caroline Wozniacki and potentially Emma Raducanu who are not currently entered into further tournaments before the Australian Open begins, but are also the two big name wildcards involved in the field.
Anisimova also entered the Australian Open with her protected ranking as previously mooted and comes as a welcome surprise for the 22-year-old former World No.21 who burst onto the scene as a teenager and had title success in 2022 as well as fourth round spots in Australia twice. After some time away from the sport, it seems that she is ready to return and give it her all.
