Eagle eyed followers of American tennis talent, Amanda Anisimova will have noted her being back in the gym and training as of late and it seems that is for an imminent comeback.
Anisimova has according to Stephanie Myles (@OpenCourt) on Twitter entered both the Australian Open and a warm-up tournament in the form of the Hobart International in January.
Set for January 8-13, 2024, Anisimova has entered herself into Hobart to begin her comeback to the sport. Albeit as Stephanie Myles noted herself, it is too soon to know if she will end up playing.

Surprise given university enrolment

But for fans of the American, it is good news seemingly after she took a mental health break from the tour after finding it 'unbearable' to be at tournaments anymore. This days after her inbox was littered with disgusting comments aimed at her body which she shared on social media.
Since then, she has enrolled as a student at Nova Southeastern University just back in August with the note #firstdayvibes showing that a potential return to action was not imminent.
But the former World No.21 who is only 22 is at the very least actively considering a return. She famously won against Petra Kvitova at 16 in 2018 at Indian Wells before sealing titles at 17 and 20 in 2019 and 2022 in Bogota and Melbourne.
As well as runs to the semi-final at the French Open, Quarter-Finals last year at Wimbledon and twice playing in the fourth round of the Australian Open including last year. The high of 21st came back in 2019.
It also serves at a time when Anisimova was one of the first to consider her mental health and step away from the sport. Garbine Muguruza also followed as results dried up and the tour grind took its toll and while the Spaniard is seemingly enjoy herself away from tennis, Anisimova could soon be heading back.
