WTA Ranking Update: Iga Swiatek remains atop as World No.1 in unchanged top 10 after season concludes

The WTA season is now all but concluded with only smaller tournaments still on the line-up for 2023. In the latest WTA Ranking Update, Iga Swiatek begins her second full week returning atop the WTA Ranking.

Albeit going into the Australian Open, she will have to do well to maintain that lead with Aryna Sabalenka sitting just over 200 points behind her so the schedules leading up to the Grand Slam will be all important.

Also the race for third spot again will also heat up with Coco Gauff sitting just over 200 points ahead of Elena Rybakina. Similar battles for 6th and 7th between Ons Jabeur and Marketa Vondrousova as well as Karolina Muchova and Maria Sakkari in 8th and 9th showing the close nature of WTA Tennis.

Swiatek and Gauff though have the caveat that Sabalenka and Rybakina reached the final last year so will be defending the ranking points. So the onus will be on them to get to the latter stages at least.

Barring that, there has been minimal changes in the top 50 with Emma Navarro continuing her rise towards the top 32. She is in 33rd after going up five spots.

Martina Trevisan (42), Varvara Gracheva (43), Sara Sorribes Tormo (49), Elisabetta Cocciaretto (50), and Peyton Stearns (51) were among the other risers. Most benefited from Mayar Sherif sliding down 10 spots to 59th. This also included a cluster of well-known names such as Danielle Collins, Camila Giorgi and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who now move up.
