The first match between France and Great Britain at the
Billie Jean King Cup was won by
Caroline Garcia who proved better than
Katie Boulter in three tiebreaks 6-7(2) 7-6(4) 7-6(2).
You don't see three tiebreaks in a match often but we saw them in this one as Garcia proved better winning the final two of the match. The first tiebreak was one by Boulter who had a lot of fans backing her in this matchup. Boulter was up a break earlier in that set but she failed to hold her serve and needed a tiebreak to finish it off.
In the second one, we pretty much saw the same thing. This time around it was Garcia who had an early break but she failed to hold her serve. Still, she would win the set anyways but in the tiebreak. The final set saw Boulter up 4-2 with a huge chance to finish off this upset but she didn't hold one.
Garcia broke back and then almost closed it out on separate occasions but she did it in the tiebreak. The final score in that one was 7-2. A big win for Garcia who need 3 hours and 26 minutes to close out the match.
