Caroline Garcia stuns Simona Halep in Doha

Simona Halep played another poor match and it came in the 1st round of the Qatar Open in Doha losing to Carolina Garcia 4-6 3-6.

Halep ended her Dubai run with a poor showing against Ostapenko and today's match against Garcia was not much better. The Frenchman has been in very poor form herself but today she easily defeat Halep who continues to struggle without a coach. There is not much adjusting done by Halep in matches and sometimes she just looks lost out there.

Whether it's because she doesn't have a coach or whether it's simply a poor run of form is hard to tell. The Romanian did not serve too well committing 5 double faults to 4 aces while also struggling on her 2nd serve. Garcia gave Halep some trouble in the past and she did so once more with a very aggressive approach on return.

On her own serve Garcia was able to play with more balance winning 1st serve points and 2nd serve points at a decent clip. She was also very clinical when faced with break points saving all nine she faced. Halep also faced nine total but saved 7 of them in the defeat. To be completely fair Garcia did play very good today and had she not, Halep would have probably found a way to win the match.
