Cirstea moves past Andreescu to semifinals of Virtual Madrid Open

Sorana Cirstea defeated Bianca Vanessa Andreescu 7-6 in the 2nd women's quarterfinal match to advance to the semifinals at the Virtual Madrid Open.

Sorana Cirstea remains one of the biggest favorites to win the Virtual Madrid Open. After a victorious run in the group stage, the Romanian faced Bianca Andreescu in the quarterfinal.

The match had everything a quarterfinal match should have. Both players showed a lot of quality shots and a total of 6 held service games. Therefore, the match reached tie-break. It seemed that the young Canadian will be able to take it when she was winning already 3-1. However, Cirstea turned the tie-break to win the match and book her semifinal spot.
