Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula wins 2023 Qatar Open doubles trophy

Jessica Pegula will contest the singles trophy tomorrow against Swiatek but today she got the doubles trophy after beating Ostapenko and Kichenkok with Gauff.

Pegula and Gauff faced Ostapenko and Kichenok in Doha last year and won fairly comfortably in two sets. This time around it was a final and it was far tougher for obvious reasons. Pegula and Gauff still started off the match well taking an early lead and adding on it. Both are rather solid players and a fair amount less streaky than Ostapenko who can be very dangerous at times.

The Americans were up 5-2 in the first set but allowed their opponents to battle back to 5-4 but it wasn't enough. Kichenok and Ostapenko really had trouble with the serve and that proved to be a major problem early. The second set went their way because Ostapenko turned it on and they played better as a unit.

6-2 was the score for them which set up the deciding set. It was a well-contested one between the pairs but ultimately the American proved better escaping with 10-7. Another title for the duo who are becoming better and better.
