Coco Gauff hasn't been playing that well this clay season but Jim Courier still thinks that the American is likely to make a deep run at Roland Garros.
Coco Gauff made a deep run at the event last year reaching the final thanks to some impressive performances and a good draw. The final was too much for her as Swiatek proved better. This year will see her arrive in Paris with a rather unimpressive list of clay outings and some have written her off completely in Paris.
Jim Courier doesn't feel that way as he thinks that she deserves to be in the conversation:
“I feel Coco deserves to be in that discussion, given her run there last year. Obviously, she’s having some difficulties in that singles court right now that, hopefully, she can solve in Paris.”
Her struggles have mostly been reserved to the singles as she looked pretty good in the doubles. Pairing Pegula, Gauff made it to the final in Madrid and Rome but lost both finals. Courier feels like doubles are a safe haven for her to keep her confidence:
“The doubles court has been a safe harbor for her to keep confidence. Hopefully, that will give her another good run in Paris."
