World No.9 Danielle Collins is set to miss the beginning of the North American hard court swing, as the American has withdrawn from two tournaments due to injury.
Collins, 28, was scheduled to compete at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose, where she is the defending champion. However, the Australian Open runner-up informed the organizers she'd suffered a neck injury and would need time to recover.
Furthermore, Collins will also miss the National Bank Open (Rogers Cup) in Toronto, which takes place a week after San Jose, from August 5-14, 2022. Regardless, the American is hoping to have recovered in time to compete at the US Open, which begins at the end of August.
Collins last played at a clay tournament in Lausanne, which was held the week after Wimbledon. There, Collins suffered a shock first round loss to Simona Waltert.
