The second day is here at the Monterrey Open with some top matches set to fully kickstart proceedings in Mexico.
Among them is Kim Clijsters who will headline proceedings on the main court. She will take on number two seed Johanna Konta.
Clijsters put on a good showing against Garbine Muguruza in Dubai - who of course was very in form off her run to the Australian Open final. But could see a potential for a win here as Konta has not been playing well and has not played since the St Petersburg Ladies Trophy last month when she lost to qualifier Oceane Dodin.
Another return to action is coming up before that as Victoria Azarenka who is seventh seed due to a protected ranking returns from taking some time off after becoming a mother and she will take on Tamara Zidansek in her first match since the US Open last year.
A player needing to get her form on track is Elina Svitolina. The No.1 seed has had a poor start to 2020 with a 6-6 win-loss record and has not been at her best at all. She faces Danka Kovinic hoping for a confidence boosting win.
It all begins with Heather Watson who is very much a player on form compared to some mentioned prior. She claimed victory in Acapulco last week and is rising up the world rankings again, she opens up her account against Tatjana Maria.
Among the other ties include Lauren Davis, no.10 seed who faces Nadia Podoroska who began 2020 with a 14-match winning streak winning two ITF W25 titles in a match which could see a seed bow out.
Kateryna Bondarenko is another player who returned from maternity leave and she will face off against Sara Sorribes Tormo in another of the top ties on Court 1 today.
