The last semi-finalist has been confirmed at Abierto GNP Seguros Monterrey as Leylah Fernandez has found her way through after a tough straight sets win over Qiang Wang.
Fernandez, the number two seed will now be favourite to defend her title after sealing a 7-6, 6-4 victory to move through with 72% on her first serve and 63% on her second serve.
In the first set, the US Open finalist went a double break down 3-0 but battled back to make it 4-4 in a set which went all the way to a tie break with Wang saving set points en route.
The Chinese ace went 3-2 up on Fernandez but the Canadian stole her serve twice and went on to go 6-3 up before sealing the set on the second attempt at 7-4.
In the second set, it was decided by a solitary break for Fernandez to go 3-2 up. From there, both held their service games but it was Fernandez who prevailed. Next up is Maria Camila Osorio Serrano.
