The 2021 Chicago Women's Open will run the week prior to the US Open featuring several notable names such as Elina Svitolina, Camila Giorgi and Venus Williams.
One week before the US Open starts the Chicago Women's Open will serve as a final finetuning event for many WTA players before the last grand slam of the season starts. Several notable names will take part in the event headlined by Olympic Bronze medallist Elina Svitolina.
The Ukrainian is the top seed at the event and she will face a qualifier in round 1. Potential opponents down the line includes French players Fiona Ferro and Kristina Mladenovic. The 2nd seed at the event will be Camila Giorgi who broke through in Montreal.
The Italian came back to Earth in Cincinnati but will look to continue to win matches in Chicago. She will face native Ann Li in the first round with Vondrousova potentially waiting in R3. Venus Williams received a wild card entry into this event and she will face fellow veteran Su-Wie Hsieh in the first round with 3rd seed Cirstea waiting in R2.
The event will run from August 22nd till August 28th serving as a good introducton to the US Open. The event is a WTA 250 event. Check out the full draw below.
