Draw released for WTA Melbourne Summer Set II featuring Pegula, Mertens and Kostyuk

The draw has been released ahead of Melbourne Summer Set II, the second WTA tournament taking place during the week of 04-01-2022 to 09-01-2022 ahead of the Australian Open.

Split into two fields, the first tournament is headlined by Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep, while the second effort is set to include Jessica Pegula, Marta Kostyuk and Elise Mertens as some of the top names.

Pegula is top seed and will return after a busy few months off court including getting married and will face Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round. The winner of Jasmine Paolini and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova could then await.

Elise Mertens receives a bye in the first round and will face Rebecca Peterson or Astra Sharma. Marta Kostyuk will face a qualifier then either Nuria Parrizas Diaz or Ellen Perez.

While other players involved include Madison Keys, Sara Sorribes Tormo, Sam Stosur, Daria Kasatkina and Sorana Cirstea.
