The draw has been completed for the Adelaide International WTA 500 which begins on January 6 and runs until January 11, 2025 as the pre cursor to the Australian Open. Conducted on Saturday afternoon, it sees Jessica Pegula as top seed.

Pegula missed out on Brisbane due to injury so it will be interesting what state she comes into Adelaide like but she is top seed and could face Mirra Andreeva in the second round who faces Linda Noskova to start. She starts in a tough section which also features Paula Badosa v Marta Kostyuk likely and the potential of facing Pegula from there.

The top four seeds also comprise of Emma Navarro, Daria Kasatkina and Danielle Collins who all receive byes into the second round. While Jelena Ostapenko returns to defend her title.

Collins faces Ons Jabeur after contrasting weeks. The American decided to play United Cup but the term is loosely as she did not even get on the court with some seeing the decision to go to the tournament as puzzling. While Jabeur reached the Quarter-Finals in Brisbane and made the most of her week.

Marketa Vondrousova makes her competitive return to action. She has not played since Wimbledon due to a hand injury and will face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round.

Other ties to watch also include Donna Vekic and Yulia Putintseva in the top half. While Navarro who was dumped out by Kimberly Birrell in Brisbane will look to bounce back. She faces either Ekaterina Alexandrova or a qualifier in the second round.

Ostapenko who won the title among a tear of results last year leads a tricky section that includes Madison Keys and Beatriz Haddad Maia. Albeit likely more Keys than Haddad Maia with the former still playing in Auckland, while Haddad Maia lost basically all matches in United Cup.
