The Dubai Duty Free Championship is coming to an end, and after a week of magnificent tennis we will today find out who will this year's edition, Halep or Rybakina.
The Dubai Duty Free Championship 2020 had a very strong field and after a week of magnificent tennis, we have come to the end. The last two players standing will face off today in a match to determine who will win. It's either going to be Simona Halep or
Elena Rybakina.
The Russian-born Kazakh player will appear in a WTA Final for
the 2nd straight week after reaching
the Ladies Trophy final last week (l. to Bertens). She
wasn't very good in that final and today won't be much easier for her. Playing against Halep in a final is a very tough task as Simona usually play's her best when it matters the most.
As we noted above Simona plays her best when she needs it the most. Speaking to the media yesterday she said she wants this title 'badly'. It will be a boost for her confidence after a
somewhat disappointing exit in Australia. She is also keen on a return to the number 1 place in WTA rankings and another title would aid her in that.
She has
played well through the whole week but she has had some
trouble with her serve. Rybakina possesses a good return and she might encounter some problems if her serve is not good. She allowed several breaks so the Kazakh player might see her chance in that.
Despite all of that, she is a heavy favourite to win and should win with all things considered. Rybakina is young and still not very experienced in finals. Last weeks
loss in St. Petersburg proved just that.
