Between February 16-22, the
Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will take place and is the third week of action in the so-called Middle Eastern swing and the highlight prior to Indian Wells and Miami in March.
The entire top 10 in the WTA Rankings as of right now at least are involved in Dubai. This includes previous winners returning to Dubai such as Mirra Andreeva who won the title in 2025 as well as Jasmine Paolini who had her memorable run in 2024.
Barbora Krejcikova back in 2023 as well as Jelena Ostapenko, Belinda Bencic and Elina Svitolina who won it between 2017-2022. The tournament which is played on outdoor hard courts will feature 56 players in singles and as can be construed has not been won by a big name in some time in regards to the leading lights like Sabalenka, Swiatek and Rybakina.
Andreeva made her presence felt back in 2025 by winning the title and boosting herself into the top 10. She brought home the trophy at Indian Wells a few weeks later and since then she has remained in the top 10 and has won the Adelaide International to further her title haul.
Svitolina one to watch as big names struggle in Dubai
Svitolina is a two-time Dubai champion and could be favoured as one of the main players to watch. She reached her first Australian Open Quarter-Final and has returned to the top 10 for the first time since 2021.
Often the bigger names either struggle or they don't play this tournament with memorable runs including Swiatek who lost to Anna Kalinskaya in Dubai two years ago who then lost to Paolini in the final. So it is never really a happy hunting ground for the top players on the WTA Tour.
Albeit that could change if they all play. Qatar Open was case and point in regards to the top names deciding to skip the event with only really Rybakina, Swiatek and Anisimova bothering in Doha.
They will fight for $665,000 in
prize money in Dubai with 1000 points for the champion. While for reaching the final, it is $385,001 with 650 points on offer. This prize money goes all the way back to the first round with $18,300 for being defeated in the opener with 10 points on offer there.
