"Eala's serve will never allow her to win a Grand Slam" - Rennae Stubbs makes bold prediction about Alexandra Eala

Alexandra Eala has exploded onto the tennis scene over these past few years as one of the WTA's biggest talents. As she continues to progress, there are still obvious weaknesses in her game, most notably her serve. Rennae Stubbs singled that out as the reason why she will never win a Grand Slam title.

The Filipina has been a trailblazer in the sport, regularly getting a huge amount of support from her loyal fans all around the world as she continues to impress on the court.

Her recent grass swing in particular has caught the eye of many. A second WTA 125 title got her on her merry way in Birmingham ahead of an eye-catching run to the semi-finals of the Berlin Ladies Open. Most notably, she got the better of Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon on Centre Court in the third round, dumping out the reigning champion in a statement performance.

Ahead of the North American hardcourt swing, Eala is raring to go once more. She started with a bang at the DC Open, completing a comeback win over former Australian Open finalist Zheng Qinwen. The WTA 1000 events at the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open soon follow with Eala, among others, eyeing a deep run at the US Open.

This was a breakthrough tournament for her last year, winning a first match at major level. However, whether it be now or in the future, her chances of winning a Grand Slam title have been ruled out by Stubbs who believes her serve will prevent the 21-year-old from making that step up.

"Eala's serve will never allow her to win a Grand Slam," she said on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast. "I know some will say the same about Angie Kerber, but I really think that's what's holding her back."

The Aussie went on to discuss similar issues with Jessica Pegula. The 32-year-old is running out of time to seal Grand Slam glory. A former US Open finalist, Stubbs also focuses on her serve, specifically her second serve which leaves her vulnerable against big hitters.

"I think that's also what prevents Jessica Pegula from winning a Grand Slam," Stubbs continued. "Her second serve is very vulnerable against big hitters. I hope she wins one someday, but I don't really believe it."

The conversation switched to Victoria Mboko who will not be featuring on the court anytime soon. A ranking drop is on the cards following that tragic knee injury at Queen's, ending her grass swing and preventing her from participating in the Canadian Open title defence.

This time last year, very few knew the capabilities of Mboko. Now, she is a household name and one of the best players in the world after consistent and eye-catching deep runs in big tournaments. Stubbs was hugely impressed with what she had seen with her.

While she limited Eala's ceiling, the six-time Grand Slam doubles champion has not done the same for Mboko. "She has the talent, the audacity, and the confidence. She doesn't get intimidated and plays without restraint. Her serve can still improve, her forehand too, but it's her confidence that makes me believe she will win a Grand Slam."

With both players so young, it is hard to see how far in this sport these two can go and how good they can get. Time will tell whether Eala and Mboko will be challenging, and winning, Grand Slam titles in the future.
