Emma Raducanu could suddenly reclaim British No.1 ranking this month from Katie Boulter

For a long while, Katie Boulter has been the standard bearer of British Women's Tennis breaking new ground and taking over the role from Emma Raducanu after injury and loss of form.

But it could yet be that Raducanu regains it somewhat suddenly this month if she can find some form at both Indian Wells and Miami. This is due to previous injury travails so she doesn't defend as many points.

Raducanu firstly has to defend a third round run from Indian Wells which won't be an easy feat. But she didn't play Miami or most of the clay court season last year. She was out of the former due to injury and only played Stuttgart for sponsorship purposes.

She then starred in the Billie Jean King Cup before focusing on grass which is where she could usurp Boulter. Lengthy runs in either tournament first and foremost will see Raducanu back in the top 50. This negates the need for wildcards as much and she is currently 359 points behind her compatriot.

Boulter who was superb to end the season is one of a number of players including Zheng Qinwen and Diana Shnaider who has not started 2025 as well. With 500 points for winning in Colorado a year ago dropping off, Boulter could soon fall down the rankings.

She is currently at World No.38 in the Live Rankings and has 130 points to defend at Indian Wells and Miami. Boulter slightly has the ace of losing last year in the opening round of Indian Wells but it will likely be a battle that if not resolved this month could go into the clay court.

Like alluded to Raducanu has very minimal points to defend and also both will get equal chance to play on grass, there are often wildcards aplenty for the Brits in tournaments on home soil so the likelihood is even if Raducanu and Boulter attack Roland Garros this year, they will likely be at Queen's anyway first week.

Both have been confirmed for the new grass court opener and could see Wimbledon having an interesting complexion. This in comparison to the men's game with Jack Draper far and away the leading light and he continues to blaze an even bigger trail than even his female counterparts.
