Emma Raducanu had a disappointing run at Wimbledon but the Brit was still able to improve her ranking thanks to some drops by other players moving her up to number 10.
Emma Raducanu has had a terrible season thus far, losing 12 games while only picking up 9 victories. But as this is her first complete season on the WTA Tour, she gains points from the competitions that she was unable to compete in the previous year. That allows her to improve her rankings despite some poor results overall.
Thanks to Wimbledon dropping points, some players ranked higher dropped significantly allowing her to move up one spot to number 10. It's the first time Rducanu is ranked inside the top 10 and the first Brit since Johanna Konta to do so.
With 2717 points right now, Raducanu ranks tenth, and 2000 of those points come from the US Open. Coco Gauff is ranked 11th with 2647 points, and Garbine Muguruza is ranked 9th with 2886 points.
Despite the fact that Raducanu's situation appears to be excellent at the moment, she will be under a lot of pressure at the 2022 US Open because she will need to defend at least some points if she wants to maintain her ranking. If not, she could experience a significant decline in the
WTA Rankings and potentially fall outside the Top 50.
