Emma Raducanu has parted ways with her new coach, Vlado Platenik, just two weeks after they started working together. The partnership with the Slovak lasted only 14 days and just one match — a first-round loss at Indian Wells.

The 2021 US Open champion fell 3-6, 2-6 to Moyuka Uchijima in Tennis Paradise and decided to split from her coach before facing Sayaka Ishii in her Miami Open first-round match on Wednesday.

They had been working together over the past week in preparation for Miami, in what was expected to be a longer collaboration, potentially lasting until the end of the clay swing at Roland Garros. However, they ended their partnership on Tuesday, and Platenik was absent from Raducanu’s box during her match against Ishii.

There is no news yet about Raducanu’s next coach, as she continues her revolving-door approach to coaching since winning the US Open. This latest split makes Platenik her seventh coach in just over three years.

Recently, Platenik gave an interview discussing his short-lived partnership with Raducanu. “Emma also approached me in a similar situation right after a great success (winning the 2021 US Open), which is why I said it could be coaching suicide,” Platenik told Slovakian newspaper Dennik N. “But now she is in a completely different position.”

The former World No. 10 now faces a tough challenge in the Miami Open second round, where she’ll take on 8th seed Emma Navarro — this time without a coach. Raducanu hasn’t won back-to-back matches since reaching the third round at the Australian Open, where she suffered a crushing 1-6, 0-6 defeat to Iga Swiatek.
